Baby in There?

Today I got my first peek at my little Peanut! I had my first OB/GYN appointment and guess what? There is REALLY a baby in there (and only one this time...whew!)! For those of you who might not remember, I had two babies with my first pregnancy but one was absorbed at about 8 weeks.

The arrow in the photo is pointing to Peanut. The little round thing above his/her head is the yolk, which is feeding Peanut until my placenta forms. He/she has a strong heartbeat and everything looks great so far.

Now the exciting part! Our due date is November 26, 2011. When the doctor told me this I almost fell off the table. For those of you who do not know, November 26 is my Mom's birthday and November 27 is Jeff's birthday. Oh, and November 24 is Thanksgiving. So we will definitely have a lot to be thankful for this Thanksgiving! Timing is not our strong point obviously.

What's next? I will have an NT (nuchal translucency) ultrasound on May 13 so we will get an even better view of Peanut and will be able to begin to rule out any chromosomal issues. If all goes well, I will most likely avoid having a amnio (yeah!). Stay tuned for more Peanut news...

Time to Tell the Family

On Easter Sunday, we thought it was as good a time as any to tell the family about Peanut. So we dressed Noah in his official Big Brother shirt and hid it under his other shirt for the big reveal. And boy was everyone surprised! Of course the grandparents were informed a few weeks earlier but the future aunts, uncles and great-grandmas were quite surprised and very happy to hear our news.
Here's our first picture as a family with Peanut growing inside.

We have our first sonogram scheduled on Monday so stay tuned for Peanut's first pictures...
